field harvest
We believe strongly in what we do — and we believe strongly in transparency.
In the world of food and agriculture today, there’s an alarming amount of “green-washing,” misleading labels, and flat-out lies. Some state legislatures have even passed “Ag Gag” laws to hide from the public what really takes place on certain industrial farms.
We take the opposite approach.
We want you — our customer — to know exactly what we do, how we do it, and where your food is coming from. We feel strongly that you — the customer — deserve that.
We want you to be connected to us, our ranch, our bison, and the meal on your plate.
From that relationship we think powerful things happen — a greater connection to nature and the land, a deeper appreciation for all life forms on our planet, and food that tastes better and means more. As we love to say, let’s eat with our eyes wide open.
So — in that spirit — below are a series of photos taken by the amazing photographer Chris Douglas of Matt field-harvesting a bison on the ranch.
Our field harvest process is explained in the “How It Works” page on our website. We are proud of our process, and we stand behind our claim that our bison meat is more ethical, humane, and environmentally friendly than the broccoli at your grocery store.
We take each field harvest seriously, and Matt field-harvests each bison himself. We don’t outsource it or turn away from it. We do the opposite — we lean into it, do it with respect and gratitude, and celebrate each animal and the amazing meat they provide our customers.
It’s hard work. It’s more work.
But it’s satisfying work.
And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
